Matthew A. Peluso has been practicing law in New Jersey and other jurisdictions for over three decades. After working in some of the most prominent firms in this state, he started his own practice in 2009 in Princeton. His broad and lengthy legal experience includes both litigation and transactional work on behalf of individuals and corporations.
Civil Rights and Employment Law
In civil rights and employment litigation, Mr. Peluso has successfully represented individuals in employment-related litigation for over 20 years in state, federal and administrative courts, as well as in arbitrations and mediations, including cases involving racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation and anti-military discrimination, wrongful termination, demotion, suspension, and sexual harassment brought under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, N.J.S.A. 10:5-1, et seq. (“LAD”), as well as retaliation and whistleblower cases brought under the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act, N.J.S.A. 34:19-1, et seq. (“CEPA”).
Complex Litigation and Trial Practice
During the course of his career, Mr. Peluso has personally litigated cases in state, federal and administrative courts, including numerous successful trials, arbitrations and appeals. In those cases, Mr. Peluso has personally conducted thousands of depositions, and prepared and argued several hundred discovery and dispositive motions. Mr. Peluso has successfully litigated cases in anti-trust, commercial, corporate fraud and malfeasance, intellectual property, trademark, civil rights, employment, international and environmental disputes.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Peluso has also represented corporate and individual clients in transactional work. His transactional practice has involved the drafting of numerous types of agreements, contracts and documents used by companies in the management and operation of their businesses, such as, buy/sell, merger, consulting, technology and software development, dealer, distributor, non-disclosure, employment, financing, real estate, supplier, warranty and other product-related agreements and documents, marketing materials and press releases. His transactional work includes:
- Drafting operational documents used by an international manufacturing company, including, but not limited to, dealer/distributor, vendor, warranty, press releases, marketing materials and sales agreements.
- Drafting financing and development agreements used by a financing company.
- Drafting a real estate development agreement on behalf of a real estate concern in the development of a $30-million-dollar hospital.
- Drafting documents in the private placement of a storage company.
- Drafting employment agreements on behalf of corporate executives, as well as personnel/employee handbooks, manuals and directives used by companies.
